i read this book and it has a tremendous impact on me...suddenly i began to realize how Jesus faced death thinking about me...he should be crucified in order to significy that he did exist in this world to become one of us...i cried reading a chapter where Yancey discussed how Jesus faced the shame and redicule of people telling him (Jesus) to save himself if he really is the son of God...truly...if i had lived in Jesus' time, i could have been one of those rediculing and challenging Him to save HImself from all these prosecutions and embarrassment...but He never did..Jesus never retaliated...He never annoyed anyone except those (Pharisees, Romans and Sanhedrins) who were envious of Jesus' muultiplying followers. Jesus was so calm when he was being beaten, spat on His face, slapped, kicked,and rediculed...i felt the pain He suffered. i felt so unworthy to be one of the recipients of freedom from his death..the book gave me a clear understanding of who Jesus was and is...he never performed the miracles of healing for a show of his power...he healed people because he had compassion for those who are in need..he never flaunted who he was...he was a gentle truly compassionate Messiah, in my heart i understood who he was...thank you Jesus all of your sacrifice for me ...to enjoy the Freedom you gave through your death, that i can pray to you anytime without doing any ritual to fulfilll. I love you Jesus!
